BB Cream is fairly new to the beauty world, and if you're not familiar with it, then you could overlook or ignore it, because (like I did) I didn't know anything about it, and my usual makeup routine "worked". Now I'm not going to be a CoverGirl commercial claiming it's totally magical and fixed every flaw in my face. Because quite frankly, BB Cream is awesome for some people, but others can absolutely skip it in their routine.
So let's start with the basics. BB Cream stands for "Beauty Balm". It was created in Korea in the 1960s. It's kind of like what happens when you pour together foundation moisturizer, sun screen, and face perfecting lotion. But definitely not as heavy as putting on one after the other all over top of each other. It's known as the tinted moisturizer that perfects the skin (minimizes pores, tightens wrinkles, moisturizes skin, protects) in a very light package. It brightens your skin too, smooth's out dark spots and brightens your complexion.
The thing that turned me off, is that the coverage of the BB Creams are very light compared to foundations - and I want to hide my imperfections. So unless you already have a nice complexion without major blemishes to start out with, it won't eliminate the need for concealer. It does, however make your skin feel super smooth and healthy right away.
I think my issue with it was that I normally don't use moisturizer and sun screen and a ton of different products on a regular basis. My skin routine is usually more like foundation, concealer, go! With as sensitive as my skin is, I try to put the least amount of products possible on it to avoid irritation. But if you're used to using all of these different products, BB Cream is a relief to use.
That being said, BB Cream is a natural way to help the skin look flawless, but you will need extra help with it if you have things like zits and major dark circles. CC cream, on the other hand, is geared more towards cosmetics and immediate looks than perfecting and skin care. That's actually something I liked being a heavy user of foundation.
CC Cream has actually replaced my foundation routine for every day - but not for special occasions. When my skin needs to look flawless, I still go for the heavy foundation. Basically, CC cream is the same thing as BB Cream, but instead of being a light coverage tinted moisturizer, it's more of a full coverage foundation. Again, it's not as heavy as a full coverage foundation, but this one actually provides some coverage of hiding the flaws.
Switching from foundation to CC Cream or BB Cream is like switching from soda to water. Soda tastes good - like the foundation just covers your skin. And water is healthy - like BB and CC cream are.
